What isometric paper is for
In an isometric drawing, the three axes of an object are drawn 120° apart. The paper already has those directions marked, so you just follow the lines to make a cube, a machine part or a building look 3D without measuring angles.
- Technical drawing and perspective assignments.
- Designing parts, furniture and models.
- Isometric illustration, pixel art and game maps.
- Spatial-reasoning exercises with cubes.
How to draw a cube on isometric paper
- Pick a point on the grid: that is the front corner.
- Draw one vertical line and two diagonals from it, one to each side, all the same length.
- Complete the faces by following the parallel grid lines.
In the generator, the size you pick is the side of each triangle. 5 mm suits detailed parts; 1 cm is better for practice and for kids.

Frequently asked questions
What angles does isometric paper use?
Vertical lines plus lines at 30° from horizontal, which form equilateral triangles (60° angles).
What triangle size should I use?
For schoolwork, 1 cm. For detailed parts, 5 mm.
